Dealing with perfectionism

Most of my life I have spent my time wanting to do things in perfect way and while In that journey I end up not being satisfied with what I do. sometime I would feel anxious of things that i dont have or feeling stressed when there was nothing to be stressed about. with the help of books and listening to some podcast that touch on perfectionism, I have learnt how to deal with it. So in this blog I will be sharing with you some of the tips that will help you deal with perfectionism.

IDENTIFY YOUR REALISTIC BEST

Take time to examine what you are doing and ask yourself if there is anything that you will need to add inorder to make it better, if your answer is ‘I don’t know’ then that’s your best. Sometimes we tend to force our selves to achieve something in a perfect way that we forget our capabilities of doing that thing. It good to know what you can and what you can’t inorder to get things done without feeling like you haven’t done your best.

CELEBRATE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

As a perfectionist we tend to feel like we are not enough or maybe we need to do better than what we have achieved. its good to learn to congratulate yourself when you make small steps. Go out for lunch treat yourself out as you plan for something much better.this will motivate you and help you to understand the importance of taking things one step at a time.

PRACTICE SELF-COMPASSION

Learn to recognise your worth by appreciating what you do. This goes hand in hand with being gentle with yourself allowing yourself to make mistake and forgive yourself as you keep on learning. This will enable you beat procrastination as well because the main course of it is wanting to do everything in perfect way that you end up not doing it . Believe in yourself and take every mistake as a lesson.

GO FOR THERAPY

Perfectionism may lead to mental issues such as anxiety and depression. Going for therapy will help you understand your strength and weaknesses . So sure you create a good rapport with therapist who will take you through the whole process to recovery

IN CONCLUSION

With this few tips I hope you learn to embrace rest, laughter and living a life in which you know you can’t control. Still perfectionism is not something that can be left completely behind but we keep on reminding ourselves daily that we are enough and we can’t control or make Everything perfect in our life.
