Self love is the unconditional love and respect you have for you. It is like a path that you have chosen to follow that gives you confidence in your worth and who you are.

It also enables you to be assertive, set boundaries and create healthy relationship with others.

If you are not sure of showing yourself some love, here are to self love habits that will enable you to start yourself love journey .

#1 Practice gratitude

Being grateful helps you appreciate what you have instead of focusing on what you don’t.

It’s one of the better way to be happier and feel more satisfied.

Learn to appreciate the little things in life and you will see the difference in your life.

#2 Eating healthy

We are often told that we are what we eat. If you choose to eat unhealthy food be sure of the consequences that comes with it.

Create a habit of eating healthy and fueling your body with the right nutrients. This means cooking for yourself instead of eating out.

This can be away of taking care of yourself which will make you feel nice.

When your body get right nutrients, it can function a lot better and provide you with those happy hormone.

#3 Forgiveness and letting go

Learn to forgive others of what they have done to you instead of holding grudges. This is very beneficial to your mental health.

Forgiveness and letting go doesn’t mean that what they did is right, it only means you will no longer allow it to hurt you.

Also learn to forgive yourself for the past decision that you might have made. It is a difficult decision but it will be worth your time and your peace of mind.

#4 Put yourself first

Self love is about showing unconditional love and respect toward yourself. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time and space to do nothing if that is what makes you feel good.

This also means saying ‘yes’ to yourself and ‘no’ to others more often.

#5 Stop comparison

Do not comparing yourself with others. Remember that everyone is born in their own unique way.

The more you compare yourself, the more you are depriving yourself the ability to appreciate who you are.

It is also doing you no good and causes feeling of lack, jealous, and insecurity.

#6 Exercise

Physical activities leads to better health and better self esteem.

Whether it’s a heart opening yoga session to activate your body or cardio, you will be doing wonders for your body.

If you are busy and you feel like there is no time, showing yourself some love could be as simple as setting a 10 minute breaks to get up and walk around the office every hour or two.

#7 Be patient with yourself

Focus on how far you have come instead of perfection when creating a to do list.

Try not to get overwhelmed by things you didn’t accomplish.

Celebrate your achievement and the goal you have reached, even if some of them took forever.

#8 set healthy boundaries.

Boundaries are the limits you put in place to protect your well being. In order to keep the relationship healthy its very important to set healthy Boundaries.

Communicating on subtle yet firm to us acceptable to you and what is not. Other person might not be even aware that they are doing it, so effective communication is a must.

Also learn to accept the boundaries set by other person without judgement.

#9 Affirmation

Word have power, and by affirming yourself with positive ‘I am’ statement, you can train your brain in a way that shifts your outlook.

If you have a goal of letting things roll of your shoulder more easily, this can help.

There are many positive statement that can help you overcome the negative through patterns.

Such as ;

  • I love life and life loves me
  • I am blessed
  • I am safe and protected at all time
  • I am beautiful
  • I deserve this

#10 Declutter or detox

To create clarity and some space in your life. You need to take some time to declutter your home, closet or mind.

This can also include digital detox. Take a look at your social media consumption and give yourself a break from time to time is a really good idea when it comes to taking care of yourself.

Not only will you have more time for other and more important thing but is also a clear your mind of some negative thinking.

You can start by;

  • Turning off social media for the day
  • Try a healthy recipe
  • Donate stuff you are no longer using
  • Go to bed early
  • Take a walk
  • Make yourself some smoothie.
